New Blog for the history of science: “Entropie” (ETH Zürich)

4 mei 2020

entropie_pict Science has been at the center of social debate since well before Covid-19.

“Climate skepticism”, “fake news”, gender issues, the return of cultural goods from the colonial era … A look at the headlines shows that there are currently intensive exchanges and debates around science. Entropie is a platform on which ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology or Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich) students in the natural sciences, technology and humanities contribute their expertise to these discussions at the interface between university and society.

The blog was created at the initiative of lecturers from the master’s program “History and Philosophy of Knowledge” (MAGPW) at the Department of Social Sciences (D-GESS) at ETH Zurich. The seminars of the course include science, technology and global history, literary studies and philosophy and are also attended by ETH students of all disciplines as part of the “Science in Perspective” course program. The texts published on the blog are revised versions of semester papers.
