Verslag: 7th Gewina Conference for the History of Science in the Netherlands (David Baneke)

Afgelopen week kwamen ongeveer 60 Nederlandse wetenschapshistorici bijeen in Woudschoten, voor de zevende keer sinds de eerste conferentie in 2005. Is wetenschapsgeschiedenis dan zo’n jonge discipline? Ja, dat zou je kunnen zeggen – als discipline. Er waren natuurlijk eerder wel wetenschapshistorici en zelfs enkele kleine instituten, maar het was een zeer gefragmenteerd vakgebied, verspreid over alle universiteiten en zelfs faculteiten. In 2005 kwam er dus een tweejaarlijkse conferentie, en rond diezelfde tijd werden een masteropleiding (in Utrecht) en een promovendinetwerk opgericht. Een voorbeeld van disciplinevorming, zelf een populair onderwerp binnen de wetenschapsgeschiedenis.

Registration reminder: Woudschoten Conference for the History of Science in the Netherlands: full programme and abstracts available (Zeist, 23 and 24 June 2017)

On 23 & 24 June 2017, the Society for the History of Science in the Low Countries, Gewina, is holding its seventh bi-annual meeting in the usual venue of the Woudschoten Conference Center, near Zeist. This two-day conference is intended to bring together those who share an interest in the history of science in the Netherlands, as well as discussing the current and future developments in the field. The 2017 meeting shall be devoted to Materiality, Museums and Media: History of Science, Presentation, and Outreach.
