Biography:
Jacob Adriaensz. Metius (ca 1580 – 1628) was spectacle maker in Alkmaar. He applied for a patent for the invention of the telescope in 1608, but the States General did not grant it to him, because some time earlier Johannes Lipperhey had also applied for a patent.
